Group Work

Healing happens in relationship. Transformation happens in community.

Why Groups

There are things that can only happen in a group. The moment someone sees you clearly and you don't collapse. The moment you speak something you've never said out loud and the room holds it. The moment your nervous system learns — not from a concept, but from lived experience — that it's safe to be fully yourself around other human beings.

▸ Most of the trauma we carry was encoded in relationship. It makes sense that the deepest healing also happens in relationship — not just with a practitioner, but with a group of people committed to showing up honestly. When you're witnessed in your process by others who are doing their own, something shifts that no amount of solo work can touch.

▸ I've spent years training in group facilitation — Radical Aliveness, The Initiation, ManKind Project, All Kings — and it's the work I thrive in most. I hold groups that are trauma-informed and attachment-based, but they are not therapy groups. They are initiatory spaces. Places where people come to feel what's real, take responsibility for what they find, and discover capacities they didn't know they had.

What I Offer

  • Men's Work

An ongoing group for men who are ready to train — not just talk. Weekly or biweekly. Somatic awareness, authentic expression, shadow work, and real accountability. This is not a support group. It's a training ground. A place to practice being the man you want to be in front of other men who will hold you to it. Rooted in my years of facilitation through The Initiation, ManKind Project, and All Kings — and grounded in the nervous system work that makes it safe enough to actually go deep.

  • Group Process

Deep, facilitated group work open to all genders. Drawing from Radical Aliveness, somatic practice, and my own framework, these groups use the relational field as the primary tool for healing. No expert model — the wisdom of the group is the teacher. I facilitate the container; the group does the work. What emerges is the kind of breakthrough that only happens when you stop hiding and let yourself be seen by people who aren't trying to fix you.

  • Retreats & Immersions

Multi-day experiences in nature. Extended silence, somatic group process, one-on-one work, challenge, and deep rest. Small groups — 10 to 20 people. These are containers for the kind of work that needs more than an hour and more than a screen. I've sat over 500 days of silent retreat myself, and I design these immersions from that foundation — knowing what happens when people are given enough time and enough space to actually land in their bodies and meet what's there.

My Facilitation

I've facilitated group process with teens and young adults, , military psychologists in Ukraine, justice-impacted men in New York City, seasoned dharma practitioners on silent retreat, and couples in crisis. The containers are different. The core is the same: show up, feel what's true, take responsibility.

▸ My facilitation is trauma-informed and attachment-based. I track the nervous systems in the room. I know when to push and when to hold. I'm not afraid of intensity, conflict, silence, or grief — and because I'm not afraid of it, the group learns that they don't have to be either. The safety in my groups isn't performed. It's built through my own regulation and my willingness to be fully present to whatever emerges.

▸ I believe that healing in community is the fastest path to genuine transformation — and that it creates a ripple effect that individual work alone can't. When you learn to be real with a group of people, you take that capacity home with you. Into your relationships. Into your family. Into the world.

Coming Soon

I'm building the groups, retreats, and immersive containers that I've been training for my entire life. If any of this speaks to you, get on the list. You'll be the first to know when enrollment opens — and you'll hear from me directly.

Client Reviews

"James is one of a kind. I've had the privilege to see him operate in both group and individual contexts, and it is nothing short of extraordinary to witness. He fully embodies the work. None of this is a side project, a mere 'career interest' to him. It is obvious that the reason why he is so effective, so creative in his approach and clear in understanding is because of how much time and energy he has spent exploring these things within himself over many, many years."

"This group helped me discover the goodness of other men in the world. It also assisted me discovering the goodness in myself and I feel liberated in this discovery."

"Working with James brought me great joy. His positive, light, serious and dedicated passion reminds me of what strength means and how I too can embody the power of masculinity in a healthy way. James is like an older brother everyone can benefit from. Knowing he is willing to go with me to my darkest dungeons is like walking through a field having a blissful conversation of rejoicing in the emptiness of suffering and how grueling it can be."
